Hamburg Part 2

Only 2 more weeks to holidays.. I can't wait! But first, I will have to get through a CBL week, a Psych exam and a week full of lectures.. dread! I'm gonna skip the last day though.. shhh!

So here are more photos from my trip to Germany last month.. first up is the midieval town of Schwerin! It's about an hour from Hamburg by train, and is a rather quiet town. And we stayed in this hostel in the middle of the woods, by the lake! It's a really picturesque place, too bad it was raining on the day we were there..

In the middle of a park, under the rain...

By the lake

Impressionism?

Scrumptious dinner in a very 'homely' restaurant

We were lucky enough to stumble across a festival while roaming the streets at night! Apparently, it was the "Arrival of the Lübeck 'Martensmannes' (Marten man)" festival who used to bring wine from Lübeck to Schwerin and this festival is to celebrate this great man.

Bread-roasting!

Now you see it ... Now you don't!

Yumm.. yumm!

Having coffee and cakes in a 'chi-chi' bar ;)

And the last stop of the trip was, of course, Hamburg! It is the second largest city in Germany and the second largest port city in Europe. I'm really amazed by how organised and clean the cities and towns are in Germany.. most of it anyways.

One of the many lakes in Hamburg

The Alster lake in the centre of town

The Rathaus (Town Hall)

Came upon this in the square.. how cute right!?

One of my friends, Grace, has a friend in the city so he brought us to this really nice brewery/restaurant called Gröninger .. it was underground, just next to the brewery thingies and the atmosphere was really nice! Oh forgot to mention.. the typical German meal consist of a roast meat/sausage, fried potatoes with bacon and sour cabbage, with a glass of beer! Not fantastic cuisine but filling nonetheless hehe..

Gut appetit!

A keg of beer anyone? :P

Hamburg is also famous for its nightlife and red light district. I didn't get to see much of it though.. coz we were totally exhausted by 3am when we finally made our way to the Reeperbanh (the red light district).

And this is for YH! ;)

And that's it for my Lubeck-Schwerin-Hamburg trip! And can you believe I didn't eat any hamburgers the whole time??
